Primal Got A Third Season?

Overview

Well just when I thought we were done with Primal with Spear dying in season 2 with a brief epilogue with his daughter "Dagger" and Fang with her kids back in September 2022. And apparently it was cancelled after season 2, but was renewed for a third season on June 16th 2023 it was renewed for a third season at the Annecy International Film Festival. But that's what I get for not keeping an eye on anything Primal related as this came as a surprise to me and well everyone else really. We got the first trailer on December 16th that implied that Spear would return as a zombie. This was furthered by the second trailer that implied that Spear would reunite with his family as he's shown screaming at Fang.

According to Tarovkosky during his 2025 New York Comic-Con he wanted to have season 3 be the start anthology concept that Primal was supposed to be from the start. But he started to have second thoughts given how season 2 concluded as he felt there was more that could be told with Spear and Fang's story.

Conclusion...

I'm excited to learn that Primal is being continued, but I'm also cautiously optimistic. Because for all we know this could devolve into a cluttered or convoluted mess. But I'm being cynical as I'll just watch the series and see how it pans out. Primal Season 3 has premiered on Sunday January 11th at 11:3.p.m. And fingers crossed on re-runs airing on Toonami later in the year.
